Unrelated Bravery
The courage to perform a dangerous act without a single witness and the courage to perform the exact same act in front of an audience are hardly even related as behavioral traits.
Without a doubt. Although in other posts I have explored the idea of imagined audiences, especially an imagined omnipresent deity, and also the reality of oneself as audience. In the end, someone is always watching, but it definitely puts an act, be it of bravery or of charity, into another class of traits, if there is no expectation of any other person's witnessing it. People who act in that manner are the ones worth watching.
